What information Dock AMP collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

You Should Know
- We collect very little: basic visit statistics, security logs, and anything you choose to send us.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run a mailing list.
- You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time by emailing hello@dockamp.com.
1. Who we are
This policy covers dockamp.com (“Dock AMP”, “we”, “us”). Dock AMP publishes research-based guides about marine batteries, charging and boat wiring. For any privacy question, email hello@dockamp.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Emails: your email address, name (if you include it) and the content of your message.
- Comments: if comments are open and you leave one, WordPress stores the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, your IP address and your browser type. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to see which pages are read. It records pages viewed, approximate location (city or region, based on your IP address), device, browser and the site that referred you.
- Security logs: our security and delivery network (Cloudflare) and our web host process your IP address and request details to deliver pages and block attacks and abusive bots.
- Cookies: small files stored by your browser. Our Cookie Policy lists each one.
3. How we use your information
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis (EU and UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to your email | Email address, name, message | Legitimate interest in answering you |
| Publish and moderate comments | Comment details, IP address | Consent (you choose to comment) |
| Understand which guides help readers | Analytics data | Consent where required, otherwise legitimate interest |
| Keep the site secure and fast | IP address, request data | Legitimate interest in security |
| Meet legal obligations | Any data we must keep by law | Legal obligation |
4. Third-party services
| Service | Provider | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics and Search Console (via Site Kit) | Google LLC | Measures visits and search performance |
| Cloudflare | Cloudflare, Inc. | Security, bot protection and fast page delivery |
| Google Fonts | Google LLC | Loads our fonts. Your browser sends your IP address to Google to fetch them |
| Amazon Associates | Amazon.com Services LLC | Tracks purchases after you click an affiliate link |
| Gravatar (only if comments are open) | Automattic Inc. | Shows a profile picture linked to a commenter’s email address |
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. We only share what each service needs to work.
5. Affiliate links
When you click a link to Amazon, you leave Dock AMP. Amazon may set its own cookies to credit the sale to us. Amazon does not share your name, address or order details with us; we only see anonymous sales totals. Amazon’s own privacy notice applies on its site. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
6. How long we keep information
- Emails: until your request is handled, then no longer than 24 months.
- Comments: for as long as the comment is published, or until you ask us to remove it.
- Analytics: Google Analytics keeps user-level data for no more than 14 months.
- Security logs: kept by our providers for short periods under their own retention rules.
7. Sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with the service providers above, or when the law requires it (for example, a valid court order).
8. Your privacy rights
United States
If you live in California (under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you can ask to know what personal information we hold, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of any sale or sharing. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as an opt-out request.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to our processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
How to use your rights
Email hello@dockamp.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We may ask for details to confirm your identity. We reply within 45 days for US requests and within one month for EU and UK requests.
9. Children’s privacy
Dock AMP is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information (in line with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). If you believe a child has sent us information, email hello@dockamp.com and we will delete it.
10. Security
The site runs over encrypted HTTPS and sits behind Cloudflare’s security network. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, they use approved safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
12. Do Not Track
There is no agreed standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals, so we do not respond to them. We do respond to Global Privacy Control, as explained above.
13. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
