You Should Know
- Dock AMP is a research-based guide to 12V and 24V boat power: batteries, charging, wiring and troubleshooting.
- We compare manufacturer specs, manuals and verified owner reviews. We do not run hands-on lab tests.
- Some links earn us a commission from Amazon, at no extra cost to you. Details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Our mission
Our mission is to help boat owners understand their electrical system well enough to choose the right part the first time and install it safely. Every guide answers the question first, explains the reason second, and names the parts last.
Why Dock AMP exists
Boat electrical advice is easy to find and hard to trust. One forum thread says a setup is fine, the next says it is a fire risk, and product listings rarely explain which spec actually matters. Dock AMP brings that scattered information into one place, checks it against the manufacturer’s own documentation, and writes it up for people doing the work themselves. The goal is simple: fewer wrong parts, fewer dead batteries and safer boats.

Reviews
Top-pick buying guides, ranked from spec sheets and owner reports.
How we research
- Collect: we gather manufacturer spec sheets, installation manuals and published documentation.
- Compare: we line up the specs that matter for the job (amps, amp-hours, wire gauge, waterproof rating, charging profile) and check them against verified owner reviews.
- Explain: we write it in plain English, with real units and the safety steps that apply.
What we do not do
- We do not run hands-on lab tests, and we never claim to.
- We do not claim personal use of products we have not used.
- We do not publish fake reviews or invented testimonials.
- Commissions do not decide which products we rank or how we rank them.
Who we write for
Most readers own a small or mid-size boat (jon boats, pontoons, bass boats, center consoles and small cruisers) and do their own 12V work. Many are upgrading to lithium, adding a second battery, or installing solar or an inverter. RV, van and off-grid owners use the same gear, so our guides point out when advice is specific to boats.
